Are you looking for funding to help develop the rural economy in the Greensand Ridge area of Central Bedfordshire?
The Greensand Ridge Local Action Group (LAG), managed by Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity (BRCC), has been awarded £1.443m LEADER funding to invest in local projects between 2015 and 2020, and is now open for new project applications.
What is LEADER?
LEADER is part of the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE). It’s a French acronym which roughly translates as ‘Liason among Actors in Rural Economic Development’.
How Local Action Groups work
A LAG is made up of people from the local community and the local public and private sector.
LAGs decide which projects they will fund in their area. This depends on the priorities set out in their Local Development Strategy, but projects must also support one or more of the 6 LEADER priorities. These are to:
- support micro and small business and farm diversification
- boost rural tourism
- increase farm productivity
- increase forestry productivity
- provide rural services
- provide cultural and heritage activities
