Studham, Kensworth and Whipsnade (SKAW) have always been a close-knit community and now they’re even more so. Skilful knitter Janice is so delighted with the help she and fellow residents have from SKAW Good Neighbours’ volunteers that she is saying thank you by knitting these amazing colourful characters to raise funds, so that the group can continue and help even more people.
An ideal present for both children and adults, these wonderful teddies and their animal friends are selling for £30 a pair.
SKAW Good Neighbours formed in response to the pandemic, when the two already established smaller good neighbour groups in Studham and Kensworth combined forces and extended to include Whipsnade. This worked so well that the volunteers have opted to continue as one bigger group, helping residents in all three villages with shopping, prescription collection, befriending, lifts, pet care and anything else one neighbour might do for another. SKAW is also playing an important role at Priory Rise Surgery helping with looking after residents getting vaccinated.
If you’d like to support the fundraising efforts of Janice, there are only a few of the original pairs remaining, but she is keen to continue knitting and is encouraging requests. If you’d like one of these delightful knitted animals just for you or as a gift for Christmas, please do get in touch.
