Our digital inclusion project ‘You Can Do IT!’ helps people to gain the skills and confidence to use smartphones, tablets, and computers at a pace that suits them. Sessions are one-to-one and are held in various venues across Bedfordshire. We’re excited to announce that we have a new group launching in Bromham on the 16th November, and will provide much needed digital support for the local community.

Our volunteer Digital Health Champions will be supporting learners in learning a range of skills such as connecting to and using the internet safely, communicating via video and voice calls, using email, and filling in online forms. Having these skills then enables learners to access health services and appointments, order prescriptions online, connect with family and friends, therefore reducing social isolation.
We spoke to Jo who attended a number of You Can Do IT! sessions at another venue. When Jo first thought about attending a session, she felt nervous and worried as her attention span was not very good and she knew nothing about the internet. Jo said she was soon made to feel safe and comfortable by the staff and volunteers who were really friendly and supportive.
During Jo’s one-to-one sessions she learnt how to read, write and send emails; how to join and set up meetings on teams; how to download her Doctor’s online app to book appointments and order prescriptions. She also learnt how to register and join various online groups.
Jo went on to say that she would highly recommend attending these sessions to others and said she could not thank the You Can Do IT! Team enough as it had given her new found confidence and freedom to explore the internet and what it has to offer in a safe, knowledgeable environment.
