National Stress Awareness Day

Wednesday 6th November is National Stress Awareness Day.

National Stress Awareness Day was set up by the International Stress Management Association, with the mission of raising awareness of the effects of psychological distress in the workplace and strategies to address it. The day focuses on campaigning against the stigma associated with stress and mental health issues, and also aims to reduce stigma of stress in the workplace.

Stress is a natural part of life and our body’s response to pressure. As we handle different challenges and demands that life brings, we will all experience different levels of stress. In short bursts, it can be a positive, helping us to work hard for a deadline or make decisions that ultimately improve our lives. However, when stress becomes unmanageable and is affecting you long-term, it’s important to seek help. Find out more about what stress is on MIND’s website.

National Stress Awareness Day is a great opportunity to reflect on how we are doing and whether we need any additional support. At Beds RCC, we have a range of projects and services to help people look after their wellbeing. From gardening groups to wellbeing cafĆ©s, one-to-one support and wellbeing walks, there’s something for everyone to get involved in if they’re looking to reduce stress and improve their mood.
