To mark His Majesty The King’s Coronation on Saturday 6th May 2023, thousands of organisations across the United Kingdom held volunteering sessions for people to get involved in and support their local community.
The Big Help Out app was home to over 8 million volunteering opportunities across the country and allowed people to discover new projects and organisations to get involved in within their local area.
Warden Abbey Vineyard ran two volunteering sessions on Tuesday 9th and Tuesday 16th May. Both days saw new volunteers come along to the vineyard for the first time, and they worked alongside existing volunteers to make improvements to the vineyard.
The new volunteers were given a tour of the vineyard, where they learnt about the history of the site, wine-making process, the English wine market, the role of the volunteers, and more.
As they were shown around the vineyard, they could see existing volunteers carrying our a range of tasks such as mowing the grass, chopping back trees, and building the marquee for events. The new volunteers were then able to join in with these tasks to give them a taster of volunteering.
During the morning break, the volunteers were given a taste of the Warden Abbey wine and everyone enjoyed toasting the new king.
