One of the UK’s leading food magazines delicious. featured an article spotlighting Warden Abbey Vineyard in their June edition.
The article focused on the volunteering aspect of an English vineyard, sharing about how this makes our vineyard unique, and the wine produced even more so. Committee members of the Friends of Warden Abbey Vineyard and volunteers spoke to journalists, sharing that:
“The vineyard has given me structure in life and I feel I’ve found a niche.”
The article goes on to delve into the history of the site. A variety of English wines being produced in the same spot that Cistercian monks tended a vineyard in the 12th Century makes the work carried out by volunteers in the present day even more special. And as FWAV committee member Amanda Gibson concludes:
In many ways the wine is a by-product of the community experience the volunteers create.
