Beds RCC’s community vineyard has reached the shortlist for the CPRE Living Countryside Awards. Vote for us!
We are pleased to announce that Warden Abbey Vineyard has been shortlisted for two awards: ‘Made in Bedfordshire’, which celebrates the best of Bedfordshire’s local produce, and ‘The Bedfordshire Choice Award’. The Bedfordshire Choice award recognises the project that best promotes a living and thriving countryside as chosen by the people of Bedfordshire.
CPRE is a national charity which believes in “countryside and green spaces that are accessible to all, rich in nature and playing a crucial role in responding to the climate emergency.” CPRE Bedfordshire work across Bedfordshire to make this happen in our county, and their awards celebrate the best of projects which are helping to make this a reality.
Warden Abbey VineyardĀ has been part of Beds RCC for over 10 years, and is a not-for-profit community vineyard that is a unique resource for the local community. Volunteers are integral in caring for the vineyard, as well as carrying out historical research, vineyard tours, organising events and more. Not only does the local community benefit from the vineyard, but so does the local environment. Wildflowers are encouraged to grow wherever possible, and nesting birds/insects are welcomed.
We’d love for you to vote for us in the Bedfordshire Choice Award category, which is decided by public vote. Voting in the Bedfordshire Choice award closes at 23:59 on 21stĀ June 2023. If you would like to vote for us, please click here.
The formal judging process for the other three category awards including ‘Made in Bedfordshire’ will take place in June. The results will be announced in July.
