We’re saying thank you to each one of the over 1,500 volunteers currently involved in our network of Good Neighbour Groups, who offer local support in over 70 villages and towns across Bedfordshire.
Whether you are a committee member, driver, phone holder, befriender, DIY-er, baker or dog-walker, it’s your kindness, skill and time that enables your good neighbour group to be there – even more so during the challenges of the pandemic.
Helping people throughout Lockdown with shopping, prescriptions, pet care and telephone befriending (plus the occasional surprise doorstep delivery of cake, flowers or seasonal fruit and veg) good neighbours remain very busy and are now also supporting people to reach vaccination appointments and resume trips to hairdressers, shops and garden centres.
One volunteer (pictured) for Houghton Regis Helpers – Jenny Gallucci – was ‘Highly Commended’ for the Central Bedfordshire Council Volunteer of the Year award in 2020 and her commitment, energy and enthusiasm are shared by her fellow volunteers across the network.
