Biodiversity & Ecology

We offer a range of ecology and biodiversity services to better understand the wildlife value of your land and to make enhancements.

Whether you require an ecological survey to address a planning condition or wish to enhance biodiversity on your land, we can help you gain the ecological insight needed to make informed decisions.

Our ecology and biodiversity services include:

  • Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (PEA) - A scoping report to support planning applications by evaluating the ecological value of a development site, identify potential wildlife constraints and recommend further habitat or species surveys. This report will include a desk study using data obtained from the local Biological Records Centre.
  • Protected Species Surveys – We offer a range of thorough surveys to ensure compliance with wildlife protection laws.
  • Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) – Surveying the baseline ecological value of your site and calculating the post-development percentage loss or gain using approved metrics. Includes the preparation of a clear, actionable report to support your planning application.
  • Extended Phase 1 Habitat Survey – An initial overview of vegetation and wildlife, assessing conservation potential and habitat suitability for protected species.
  • Biodiversity Enhancement plans – Tailored site layout and planting plans to improve your site’s biodiversity, climate resilience and sustainability.
  • Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) – On-site ecological supervision to ensure compliance with wildlife laws, planning conditions and protected species licences.
  • Interpretation Boards – Provide visitors with bespoke illustrations and maps, delivering engaging and informative displays to enhance the visitor experience.
  • Advice and general support – Need an ecologist’s opinion or support? Our in-house ecologist would be more than happy to assist.
