Attention all Houghton Regis Residents: an opportunity to comment on the draft Neighbourhood Plan for your town

Regulation 14 Draft Neighbourhood Plan Consultation – Monday 9 August to Friday 24 September 2021

Neighbourhood Plans were introduced by the Localism Act 2011 as a way to allow local communities to identify the challenges facing their areas and to put forward potential solutions.

Houghton Regis Draft Neighbourhood Plan has been produced following consultation with local residents and organisations, and following this consultation, will be submitted formally to Central Bedfordshire Council for consideration.

The comments made by the community in the first stages of consultation have helped identify the key issues and some options to address them. These have been turned into draft Neighbourhood Plan policies.

This consultation seeks to ensure that the Plan has been drafted in line with the views and requirements of the community.

This represents a statutory 6 week period of consultation in accordance with Regulation 14 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012. The 6 week consultation period will run from Monday 9 August to Friday 24 September 2021.

Following this consultation, the Neighbourhood Development Plan will need to be amended and then submitted to Central Bedfordshire Council, as required, for Regulation 16 consultation and following that an independent examination will be carried out.

The Plan, if successful at examination, will then proceed to a local referendum to ensure that it receives local support.
